North Star Elementary School!

 (Formerly Grand Centre Elementary School)

Welcome to North Star Elementary School for 2010-2011!  

Our school is 230 students strong, from Kindergarten to Grade Three.  Our class size average is 21 students. Students with special needs are integrated into the classrooms, are supported by Educational Assistants, and provided with individualized programming.

We are proud to offer an enhanced literacy curriculum, which includes Early Literacy & Read to Succeed programming, Small Group support and tutoring. We also offer daily physical education and music programming.

Our academic curriculum is balanced with a strong Moral Education program.  Our school virtues are:

      KINDNESS - EMPATHY- SELF-CONTROL - RESPECT - PERSEVERANCE  

Our playground is one of the best, offering large open space and two creative playground structures for climbing, swinging, sliding and having fun!

Our teachers learn too!  They collaborate in Professional Learning Communities weekly, studying instructional strategies that will improve student achievement.
